37 JAN-MAR 2017 AL CONSTRUCTION NEWS TODAY, UNDER THE LEADERSHIP of Barry's son, Bill, Robins & Morton is still a privately held company, recognized by Modern Healthcare and Engineering News-Record as one of the nation's top contractors. The firm has not only built hospitals, schools, hotels, offices and military buildings, but has also built a solid foundation of proud employees and a positive, time-enduring reputation with its clients. "There are so many people in the company who laid the foundation for what we have today at Robins & Morton," said CEO Bill Morton. "We've always had great people, and it started with Todd. He was a great leader and committed to satisfying clients. He had a can-do attitude, which was passed to my father,, Barry, and, of course, it has been passed on to our current management team." Through the generations, the company has worked its way into numerous niches and markets. From the 1940s to the 1980s, the company tackled a variety of projects including bank branches, steel companies, flagship retail stores, schools and even airport projects. But soon, something would truly set the company apart. By 1980, Robins was emerging as a leading healthcare builder, and in 1981 opened an office in Nashville to better serve several national clients based there. Just before its 50th birthday, The Robins Corporation officially became Robins & Morton. "We always have been— and always will be— committed to operating a certain way. Our people and our clients are everything to us, and those two things drive our business." –Bill Morton, CEO
