41 JAN-MAR 2017 AL CONSTRUCTION NEWS Spunner said. "We've always believed that if we can meet the client's timeframe, budget and safety requirements that we will meet their needs long term." That can-do attitude has been a factor behind some of White- Spunner's repeat customers and jobs. When White-Spunner was still early on in his career at the company, the company was awarded a project to work with Ryan's Steakhouse. The company completed the project so successfully that they were awarded numerous other projects for the restaurant. "We built one res- taurant for Ryan's Steakhouse, and when we finished, the project owner came to me and said he liked how we met their needs and found them solutions," White-Spunner added. "At that time, when I was still in my twenties, we established a relationship with them that took us around the country working with them. Over the years, we've built over 100 projects with them. That taught us a lot about how to maintain a relationship." White-Spunner has been contracted by numerous other major national companies time and again, such as Academy Sports+Outdoors, The Fresh Market and Dave & Busters. In fact, The Home Depot turned to White-Spunner to work on more than 350 new construction and renovation projects over the years. While the company's ability to identify challenges and offer solu- tions has played a big role in the success of these relationships, White-Spunner also credits the company's 60-plus employees. "We have a first-class group of people here," he said. "Everyone here brings something to the table, and we all learn from each other, which drives our company forward in such a positive way." To keep the momentum going in a positive direction for the future, company leaders are also spending time mentoring younger employees to help them succeed and help move the company forward. And while the company begins looking to next generation, they will focus on the same values and principles that have guided them for the past 35 years. "You never get the busi- ness completely figured out; you're always learning and adjust- ing and improving," White-Spunner said. "But we will continue to operate on Godly values and maintain open communication within our company so that we can all do a better job. We try to help employees be all they can be, which results in better relation- ships with clients and maintain those relationships long term."
