JUL-SEP 2017 AL CONSTRUCTION NEWS 23 23 MARK MCCORD CORE INSTRUCTOR, TRAINING & EMPLOYMENT COORDINATOR Mark McCord has been promoted to core instructor, training and employment coordinator. Last school year, Mark served as the Academy's building construction instructor but assisted with many other aspects at the training center. His new role means he can now provide full-time focus facilitating the relationship between the industry and students. "In my new role I will be working directly with the industry on skills that the students should be taught, overseeing the Advisory Council, coordinating with employers for internships and ultimately helping students who complete the program to find employment," McCord added. "I'm excited to be able to do this full time and focus all of my time and energy on helping our students succeed." JUL-SEP 2017 AL CONSTRUCTION NEWS STEVEN DENNY BUILDING CONSTRUCTION INSTRUCTOR Steven Denney has joined the Academy of Craft Training as a building construction instructor. Denny has vast experience in construction. He previously worked at Golden Construction for many years, originally serving as a journeyman carpenter and last served as the company's virtual design and construction manager. Before that, he worked as a carpenter for Brice Building Company Denney is an NCCER-certified instructor. He learned building construction at Bessemer State Tech. He received an advanced high school diploma from Chelsea High School. Denney replaces Mark McCord, who changed positions after the last school year.
