Hosted at The Pearl Hotel in Rosemary Beach, Florida, the purpose behind the event was to provide information to member companies that they can utilize to work better—all in a relaxing and beautiful environment for those members and their families. The agenda included a welcome reception, sponsored by Auburn Electrical Contractors, for all attendees and started up the very next morning with informative agenda opportunities. A highlight of the day 's events was a roundtable focused on trends in campus construction, which was followed that evening by a networking opportunity of dinner and cocktail reception. Other topics discussed during the annual meeting included a federal elections and regulatory update by ABC National Government Affairs Director Chris Singerling, a business brunch featuring RSM Chief Economist Joe Brusuelas and a talk on protecting your business from fraud with Renasant Bank's Todd Beard and Chrissy Aubin. "Derivative. It's all about the derivative," said ABC of Alabama Chairman of the Board and Bailey-Harris Construction CEO Allen Harris. "The gain is directly proportional to the effort, and that's what we saw at our State ABC Convention. For our members we wanted content that they could take something back of value. With a prestigious panel discussion of a new PSCA bond issue, a deep dive into national political affairs with ABC National's top dog Chris Singerling, electronic fraud and how to fight it, rounding out with Joe Brusuelas Chief Economist with RSM, there was good engagement with our membership."
