53 OCT-DEC 2018 AL CONSTRUCTION NEWS pre cast. "On so many of these projects there were numerous ABC of Alabama contractors, and it's great that we can all work hand in hand as a team," Watts said. "For jobs to be successful, we have to work as a team." Standard has worked on a number of projects at the University over the years, and even participated in the newer projects as they did work on the Delta Zeta chapter house and the New Freshman Residence Hall. "Building those relationships is one of the biggest bonuses that comes out of being a member of ABC," said Pete Taylor. "The relationships developed through ABC can help so much when you're working together on a job. It really can make the partnership easier." Southern Carpet, Hardwood & Tile is another ABC of Alabama subcontractor that enjoys participating on the University projects—they worked on four jobs this year alone, including the Mal Moore Dining Facility and Alpha Omicron Pi chapter house—and knows that their involvement in ABC helps make those jobs better. "There were several ABC of Alabama members on these jobs, and it makes you feel good when you go to these jobsites or job meetings and see another ABC member there," said Southern Carpet, Hardwood & Tile President Tim Hightower. "When you already have a good relationship with your fellow subcontractors or general contractors because you've met through ABC or worked together through ABC, it makes communication on the job better, which just results in an even better project." Added Love, "The collaborative efforts of the outstanding architects, engineers, general contractors, tradespeople, subcontractors and vendors all bring projects to completion and help the University of Alabama more forward. The University is grateful for their ongoing support and dedicated efforts." THE GROWTH ON CAMPUS HAS IMPACTED COMPANIES ACROSS THIS STATE AND ACTUALLY BEYOND. THE UNIVERSITY HAS BECOME ONE OF THOSE OWNERS THE INDUSTRY LOVES WORKING WITH. –Jay Reed, ABC President
