63 OCT-DEC 2018 AL CONSTRUCTION NEWS JOURNAL in the Academy 's internship program for the very first time last Christmas," said FabArc's Scott McDill. "Haley was one of the three students that interned here, and she did a good job." Callaway did so good that when she graduated earlier this year, she was soon after offered a job to come on board at FabArc full time. "I was so excited and very surprised," she said. "I knew that I wanted to weld and that I'd love to work for FabArc, but I never expected to get an opportunity like that so quickly." Today, thanks to a decision to attend the Academy of Craft Training and pursue the field that she loves, Callaway gets to do what she loves every day. "There's just something about the art of welding that I love," she said. "I love the satisfaction of seeing small things put together to make something larger. It's pretty cool seeing it from scrap metal to a finished product." While she works alongside the other 200 or so workers at FabArc, Callaway has the distinction of serving as the company 's only female welder. "She does a great job," McDill. "She has an excellent attitude, and we couldn't be more pleased with having her on board. We're also excited to bring through our next round of Academy students during the Christmas break for more internships."
